Most people may think that the invention and application of CBD to be a new thing, but what is not known to most is that it has been around for quite some time. CBD has been around for approximately half a century; so, let’s take a look into the history of this fantastic product so you can become more knowledgeable about what it is CBD, what does CBD do, where it came from, and where it will go next.

When Was It Discovered?

CBD was first created back in 1940, by a Harvard graduate chemist Roger Adams. He was not aware that he had succeeded at extracting the CBD from the Cannabis sativa plant, and it was not until years later while working with some other scientists, did he realize what he had accomplished.

The first CBD tests were conducted on animals in 1946 by Dr. Walter S. Loewe, and from these tests, he learned that CBD did not cause an altered mental state. Further CBD research continued into the 60s, and it finally was designed into an oil meant for therapeutic use in Britain.

1980, Dr. Mechoulam found that cannabidiol should be an essential treatment when treating epileptic seizures.

We have found a real resurgence of CBD being used for all sorts of medicinal purposes, everything from mental stress, depression, and pain relief as some of the more common treatments. CBD is proving to be more reliable than many other prescription drugs used when treating specific ailments that seem to be plaguing the U.S., without having to resort to potentially harmful narcotics.

CBD has made its way into aiding with the recovery of so many different ailments, that states that have previously outlawed its sale and use are dwindling away.

The Future

With the steadily growing amount of people that are embracing the use of CBD over the generic pharmaceuticals most often utilized for things such as epilepsy, pains, and depression, one can only assume that CBD will soon be one of the most profitable and reliable products for the US people to employ.
